Chocolate Chip Cookies

 

Mix together:

 

1 cup shortening

½ cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

½ tsp vanilla

 

Add 2 eggs. Beat.

 

Sift together, then add:

 

2 cups and 2 Tablespoons flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. salt

 

Stir in:

 1 --  12-ounce package chocolate chips

½ to 1 cup chopped nuts

 

Bake at 375 for 10 minutes

 

Variations: I like to use a blend of white, whole wheat, barley, oat, millet, buckwheat and other flours, though it has to be a majority of white wheat flour to work right.

 

The nuts can be walnuts or pecans. Or whatever.

The chips can be regular, mini, butterscotch or other kinds. Milk chocolate chips, however, are rather sweetish and bland.
