Gingersnaps

 

¾ C. shortening

1 c. sugar

 

Cream till light and fluffy

 

1 egg

¼ c. molasses

 

Add:  beat well

 

2 c. flour

¼ tsp salt

2 tsp soda

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp cloves

1 tsp ginger

 

Sift and add

 

Chill 1 hour.  Roll into 1-inch balls.  Roll them in sugar.  Put on cookie sheet two inches apart, bake at 375 for 8 – 10 minutes. 

 

 

NOTE: without the baking soda (note the unusually large amount) these are like ceramic tiles. That can be useful for crafts.
